The Aqua d’or story

The Aqua d’or story began with Allan Feldt who grew up in the small town of Nørresundby in Northern Jutland.

As a child Allan was a bit different from the other kids. When posed the question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” the answer was never “I want to be a fireman” or “I want to be an astronaut”. Instead Allan always said he wanted to be a CEO.

So Allan chose the direct route to become a CEO by starting his own company.

And that was how Aqua d’or got started.

It all started with the bottled water coolers that Allan Feldt brought to the European continent. That was in 1988 when Allan was teaching sales and accounting at Copenhagen Business School and completing his degree.

The business grew at a moderate speed into a contemporary company that turned a profit every year.

In 1999 yet another purchasing offer for the company crossed Allan’s desk, and this time he accepted. Basically, the offer was too good to refuse and Allan already had designs for his next venture – an ultra modern bottling and retail packaging plant.

He had seen the prices of 0.5 litre and 1.5 litre bottles of natural mineral water in the shops, and decided it was time to make the market a little more competitive by offering Danish consumers fresh natural mineral water bottled directly from the source at fair prices.

From the very early days, Steen Houmann has been a loyal member of the Aqua d´or staff and a good friend. Allan Feldt rewarded Steen’s loyalty in 2000 by making him managing director and partner in the new company. Since then Aqua d’or hasn’t looked back, and market share has grown from nothing to over 60% of the retail and convenience store markets.
